September Summary--Part 4

With all the fires, we have had a lot of pretty sunsets/sunrises.  So I wanted to put some of the pictures on my blog......
although pictures never do it justice!
It is quite smokey in town on this day--
you should be able to see mountains in the distance but it has been too smokey.
When I leave for my walks each morning, it is very dark (I leave around 6:15 or 6:20).  There is smoke on the horizon all around me (from all directions)
 The sunrise one September morning.
This picture shows how smokey it is (again--there should be mountains on the horizon).
This is another day when I was walking home from the land.  I turned around (east) and normally I can see the Tetons.
But it made for a beautiful sunrise!
This is looking west (and Rusty's truck heading towards town).  I am about 1 mile from our house.
 The town of Dubois.
What a beautiful view!

September Summary--Part 3

Emmalee does NOT like to go to the dentist.  We have been prepping her for a few months about getting her teeth cleaned (playing dentist, reading the 'Berenstain Bears Go to the Dentist', reading about being brave, etc.) and I thought we had it.  But nope--she had an all-out-fit in the office.
so Benjamin went before Emmalee.  He was so good--he laid right down and let them clean his teeth.
The kids like the office because of the trains--this is the room that Ben was in.
I couldn't believe how good Benjamin was--he let them do everything...
(except he gagged when they tried to x-ray the teeth)  and colored while he waited for the dentist.

Then it was Emmalee's turn again--I carried her in there screaming and crying and held her in the chair so Dr. Baker could look at her teeth.  I held her and he was able to look at her teeth in-between cries.  As he was able to look at her teeth, he asked me if he should try to start cleaning the teeth--I told him to do as much as he could!  After about 10 minutes, she calmed down and finally let them finish everything.
She was quite happy afterwards.  I think it was the "unknown" and she was just so scared that it would be awful that she wouldn't give it a chance.

Waiting in the van while mom went shopping.
Ben, Mom and Emmalee getting ready for bed (reading in bed).
Ben had to take the cat back home because he was following us to school.
"Mom--you can't go to school!  You have to stay home and clean!"

September Summary--Part 2

Benjamin loves to be Superman (this is Callum's costume that he wore for a long time a few years ago).
 Super-Ben!
Benjamin wanted his hair up in a towel like Emmalee & Mommy.
 Fun!
They are both into sticking out their tongue when their picture is being taken.
Zane at the Boy Scout Court of Honor--receiving more merit badges.  He is a life scout and just needs 1 more required merit badge & do his project to be an Eagle.
Callum receiving his second and first class rank along with 5 merit badges.
Callum trying to get away before giving the "required" mother hug :)
Benjamin usually gets up "early" when he doesn't have school (between 7 and 8)
and on school days, I have to wake him up and hurry him up to get breakfast so we can get to school at 9.
"But I don't want to get up!"

September Summary--Part 1

I thought I had better do a re-cap of September.  It was busy, busy--and I have a lot of pictures I wanted to share.
Emmalee and Benjamin LOVED husking the corn each time we ate it.
This is the dress that I wore when I was Emmalee's age (my mom sewed it for me).  She wore this dress on picture day also.

Benjamin loves our cats--a little too much at times.  Rusty came home from work and thought the cats had gotten into some oil.  But then he decided to smell them and sure enough--they smelled like my hand lotion (he thought of smelling them because Benjamin had already put "a little" lotion on the kittens so they would smell good).
But this time, Benjamin had used most of the bottle on both the cats and they were matted down quite good--and this one (Spike) had rolled around in the dirt.
So Rusty and Zane took on the "fun" task of giving the cats a bath.  Actually, Spike was a lot calmer (less feisty) than the smaller kitten (Parry the Catapyus).
 Drying off the cats.
After this incidence, I put all the lotion up high so Benjamin couldn't get into it again.
But surprisingly, The kittens still like to be held by the kids.
Parry sleeping while Emmalee finishes her homework (with Brienna's help).

They all are poising for the camera!

Fall Football--Oct. 5, 2012

Friday was the first "cold" football game we went to.  Brienna was freezing trying to play her flute.
Zane & Alberto Ruiz played the national anthem on their trumpets before the game.  And then we waited for another hour before all the refs made it to the game.
 Getting ready for kick-off.
I bought a new camera on Tuesday, and so far--am I quite pleased with the results!
Plus, it was regular $170, and was marked down on clearance to $140.  Then it rang up as $105!   I guess all the electronic clearance was an additional 25% off :)
We played Calvary Chapel Christian School.  It was their first year playing, so they are considered a JV team.  Next year they will be in our conference/district. They have a really good passing game, and both sides played quite well.

Zane was able to play most of the game and we ended up winning 50-24.
Benjamin was trying to stay warm (as you can see--I had to dig out the winter coats).  It was about 45 degrees, but the wind was blowing from the north most of the game.
 Zane is #61.
Zane said he was never cold during the game or even on the side line--so at least someone didn't freeze at the game :)
