These 6 kids were the essay winners. There were 2 winners from each class (Clark Co. & 2 classes from West Jefferson). But only one from each class read the essay & so Marisol (far right) read it--which made Callum happy that he didn't have to read it.
Before everything started--sitting around waiting.
Their guest speaker was Jason Buck--a former NFL football player.
He is quite tall--and had a wonderful, amazing, & inspiring story to share.
Deputy Mike Miller is awesome. He said this was his 21st year with the DARE program.
All the kids love him--and he remembers most of them. He supports them by attending activities (sports, etc.), graduations, & some mission farewells. In Ethan's last area (Bakersfield), Mike Miller's brother was in Ethan's ward.

I was glad I went. Benjamin was actually quite good, too, so that was a plus. (Bart May--Clark Co. Sheriff is 2nd from the left & Callum's teacher, Mrs. Sherry Lacascio is on the far right).
