Fun in the Mountains--Part 2

One of the favorite things to do when we are in the mountains is to ride the 4-wheelers.
This is Benjamin's first time.  He was excited to wear the helmet (because he LOVES helmets!!).

But he didn't want to sit on it with Daddy--he wanted his momma!
But momma walked away from him & daddy took him on a ride.
He had a blast--and now joins the kids in begging for a ride on the 4-wheelers!
Emmalee was next (we bought helmets a few years ago so all the kids would have a helmet that fit).
She even got to "push the black button that makes it go!!!"
Callum was patient in waiting for his turn (that is if patient means "hurry up so we can get rides!!!")
Brienna getting a turn too.  All of the pictures of Zane ended up being too blurry, so the next ones will have to do.
The 5 youngest kids, all in a row.
I love how they can have fun just sitting on the 4-wheelers!

Callum was wearing Uncle Ken's helmet.  He loved the goggles!
Benjamin "borrowing" Uncle Skeeter's helmet--just a tad too big!

I love Emmalee's expressions.  She is such a doll!

My handsome hubby--Rusty.  He was so busy giving the kids rides, that he didn't have time to give me one!
Between the Uncles, Daddy & me, the kids all got a few rides, and we had a blast with the 4-wheelers.  Thanks Uncle Ken & Grandpa for the use of the 4-wheelers!

Fun in the Mountains--Part 1

Last weekend, we went to Stoddard campground (about 15 minutes north of us) where 2 of Rusty's brothers (Ken & Skeeter) & a nephew (Lafe) were camping.  And another brother (Reed) also came up to visit, along with his son (Danny), Rusty's Uncle Reed  & Grandma & Grandpa Stewart.
We roasted hot dogs (and marshmallows)
Benjamin was certain he could do it himself (but for some reason mom wouldn't let him)
Emmalee was a pro at roasting her marshmallow.  But she doesn't like to eat it roasted--just warmed up (so no browning at all)

As I was fixing my hot dog, I turned to see Benjamin attempting to do a somersault--head down in the puddle.  But it was my mistake--he wasn't doing a somersault.  He was getting his hair wet!!
Mind you--it was about 40-45 degrees, cloudy & it had snowed a little earlier that day.  He ran & splashed that puddle to pieces!!  (See, Mom--this is where I dipped my hair!!!)

Benjamin, Benjamin, Benjamin!!!

FHE Fun

For Family Home Evening a couple of weeks ago, we all went out & stacked the wood.

Everyone pitched in (notice Ben's gloves--they kept falling off, so we put sweat bands on to hold them on)
It was a very nice evening, and the wood was stacked quickly.  The kids loaded the wheel barrow, and then Rusty would stack it.
I took the pictures, and then watered our tomato plants.  We had to pick all of the tomatoes Monday, October 11th because of the frost warning that night.  And it did freeze, so I was glad they got picked!
It was cute to watch Emmalee find pieces of wood "the right age" for Ben.
And then he decided he was a log-roller.  He had good balance!

Last of Homecoming Week Pictures

This is the last of the pictures from Homecoming week.

Wednesday was Camo day.  Tuesday after school & evening had been so busy, that Brienna didn't get any camouflage clothes out, but lucky for us, we are a hunting family.  So she borrowed Zane's jacket, & Ethan's hunting hat.
I did her make up that morning.

Zane has experience hunting with his dad (well--he hasn't been old enough to hunt yet, but has been going with Rusty for a while now).
So he just got out his hunting gear & did his own make up.
I love how well he blends in.  He told me one of his teachers didn't know who he was at first. :D
Thursday was Orange & Black day (our school colors)
Brienna tried to write "Go CCHS" under her eyes without any help, but then decided it was too hard to figure out how to get all the letters backwards.  So I helped her.
I thought her hair was really cute, so I had to take a picture from the side.
Zane wanted to paint his face white & write on it himself, but I told him he didn't want to have to wash all of it off if he made a mistake.  And reminded him he would be writing backwards (when looking into the mirror), so he had me do it for him.
Turned out pretty nice :D

Homecoming week was fun, but tiring.

And I'm glad it is done.  Now we can have a "normal" week (ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!)

P.S.  Both Zane & Brienna won for being the best one dressed up in their class:  Zane on Career Day, and Brienna on camo day.

Homecoming--Bon Fire!!

I took Brienna, Zane, Callum & Emmalee to the bon fire a little before 9 on Thursday night.
Callum really wanted to stay & Zane & his classmates said they would keep an eye on him.

Callum roasting marshmallows (this was NOT the bon fire)
Brienna helped Emmalee roast a marshmallow (I guess she didn't roast it--just warmed it up)
Brings back memories!
