Our motel was in Ohio, & then we went back into Illinois.
We woke up to a foggy morning(from the Mississippi River)--but it quickly burned off before 7 am!
We arrived at the visitor center in Nauvoo about 7:30 am to get tickets for the wagon rides (which start at 8). There were only 5 or 6 left for the 8 o'clock ride, so we got 7 for the 9:00. (Ben waiting in the visitor center for the ride)--side note: poor Ben got some bug bites on his feet (even the bottom of them) from being at the river last night & maybe a couple in the vehicle on the way to the motel, so he didn't really like to walk very much today.

Brienna decided that she would much rather do some baptisms in the temple & possibly miss the wagon ride (& the missionary couple told her the workers at the temple would squeeze her in without an appointment) so Pamela quickly took her up to the temple.
When Pamela got back, we watched a 20 min. video "Remembering Nauvoo" & then walked over to the beginning of the wagon rides. Bishop Wood's parents are serving a mission here, and he told us that his dad drives a wagon. So imagine my pleasant surprise when we walked out & say Elder Wood at our wagon.
(We found out also that the rides leave every 30 minutes, so we could have been on the 8:30 ride also). But we would have missed seeing Elder Wood! Also--at 8:50, Brienna called me from the temple saying she had just finished,
So Pamela quickly drove up to get her (it's only about 1-2 minutes away).
Ben was super excited about being on a wagon "for the 1st time!"
They made it back with a few minutes to spare (and she wasn't the last one on the ride)
It was a great ride--I learned a lot about the history of Nauvoo & the different buildings. We were wondering how the pioneers drained the swamps & they told us that they built irrigation ditches & that did the trick.

It was a cooler (cloudy) morning, so the weather was just right.

After our experience in Carthage (how busy/crowded & how long we had to wait), I thought for sure that it would be the same this morning.
But the missionaries told us most people attend the temple first thing in the morning, & then come to the buildings. But they also said it was unusually slow.
